Quinta do Côto, Castelo de Paiva

The understanding of the touristic potential of Quinta do Côto is the opportunity to rehabilitate the existing building complex in a joint strategy to value the local identity as tradition and its potential as a tourist attraction capacity as innovation/differentiation.

The architectural intervention seeks to value the vernacular construction — recovering traditional details of roof construction interior partitions finishings and materials such as wood, schist and iron oxide etc. — but at the same time to introduce a pertinent specificity that values the whole as a set and also the units as an experience — formally introducing new contemporary elements which create a new exterior composition and are the opportunity to rescue more light and landscape to the interior of the spaces.
